# Manifesto a.k.a yaping2 dekol

\ This isn't a finished manifesto. More like 'yapping-yapping dekol', notes that want to be argued with, added to, refused in part.

**1. Kolonialisme tidak berakhir dengan kemerdekaan. Ia menjadi metodologi. Cara pengetahuan diorganisasi**: **Siapa yang mendefinisikan masalah? Siapa yang merancang solusi? Siapa yang menulis laporan? Serta, laporan itu untuk siapa?**

Colonialism did not end with independence. It became methodology. How knowledge gets organized. Who defines the problem. Who designs the solution. Who writes the report. Who the report is for.

**2. Sebelum kolonialisme mengambil tanah dan tenaga kerja, ia mengambil imajinasi. Kemampuan membayangkan dunia yang berbeda. Keyakinan bahwa pengetahuanmu cukup. Kepercayaan bahwa caramu sendiri bukan ketertinggalan, tapi ketepatan.**

Before colonialism took land and labor, it took the imagination. The capacity to conceive of things being otherwise. The confidence that your knowledge is enough. The trust that your own way is not backwardness, but precision.

**3. Ngugi menulis: peluru adalah sarana penaklukan fisik. Bahasa adalah sarana penaklukan spiritual. Bahasa membawa budaya. Budaya membawa nilai. Nilai membawa seluruh arsitektur tentang cara kita memahami diri kita sendiri.**

Ngugi wrote: the bullet is the means of physical conquest. Language is the means of spiritual conquest. Language carries culture. Culture carries values. Values carry the entire architecture of how we understand ourselves.

Decolonizing the mind means noticing the colonial architecture inside your own thinking. The categories you use without choosing them. The standards you measure yourself against without knowing who set them. The things you take for granted, so completely that questioning them feels not like political analysis but like losing your footing.

Everyday decolonization happens at all scales. In movements and protests. And in conversations with friends. In family. In relationships where the power imbalance operates quietly enough that nobody has named it.

Nationalism is a technology, not a natural truth. It spread globally across the 19th and 20th centuries, arriving precisely when colonized peoples needed a framework to fight back. The tool worked. And then the tool kept working, on them.

**7. Negara-bangsa poskolonial sering kali mewarisi \<bukan membongkar> struktur kolonial. Ekstraksi berlanjut. Arahnya sama. Pusat menarik dari pinggiran. Bendera berbeda. Metodologi sama.**

The postcolonial nation-state often inherited \<not dismantled> the colonial structure. Extraction continued. Same direction. Center pulling from periphery. Different flag. Same methodology.

The project is the most living form of colonial methodology today. Identify the problem. Design the intervention. Implement the method. Measure the outcome. Write the report. Close the project. Who defined the problem? Who is the report for? Who was not in the room when all of this was decided?

**9. Salah kaprah dekol: kesalahpahaman yang begitu meluas hingga menjadi versi arus utama.**

**Dekolonisasi bukan seminar. Bukan *****rebrand*****. Bukan estetika.

Salah kaprah dekol: the misunderstanding so widespread it became the mainstream version.

Dekolonisasi is not a seminar. Not a rebrand. Not an aesthetic. Not a diversity initiative with better language. Not a project that can be closed.

ProyekDekolonial is not immune. We have done some of this. Probably will again. We name this not as confession, as method. The collective that cannot name its own failures cannot be trusted to name anything else.

Four questions to practice, not answer:\ a) Whose logic am I using right now, and what does it make invisible?\ b) Who decided what the problem was, and who was not in that room?\ c) Who controls what gets documented and what doesn't?\ d) What are we reproducing right now that we haven't noticed yet?

Pengalaman, selalu sebelum teori.**

The person who has never read Fanon might be carrying knowledge the framework hasn't figured out how to hold. The feeling of wrongness you felt is not ignorance. That is data. Experience before theory, always.

We are not building a decolonized institution. We do not have the correct theory. We have not resolved our own contradictions.

We are building spaces where experience is treated as knowledge, the body's knowledge is not edited out, trauma is political work not a detour from it, someone who has read nothing and someone who has read everything are both necessary to what gets produced.

Decolonization and anti-colonial praxis are a lifelong process. No completion date. No certificate. No moment at which it can be said to be done.

Only the ongoing practice: returning to the questions, returning to the community, returning to the discomfort that signals something worth examining.

**15. Marilah kita mulai dekolonisasi. Bukan sebagai proyek. Sebagai praktik.**

**Kami mulai. Kami tinggal. Kami kembali.** \ We begin. We stay. We return.

Dokumen ini tidak selesai. Ia ingin diperdebatkan, ditambahkan, ditolak sebagian. \ This document is not finished. It wants to be argued with, added to, refused in part. The disagreement you bring back to the room is the most valuable contribution.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://proyekdekolonial.gitbook.io/docs/arsip/readme.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
