# Tentang ProyekDekolonial

### What is ProyekDekolonial?

ProyekDekolonial is not a workshop series, not a reading list, not a program you complete. It is a permanent shift in how you inhabit the world: in what you notice, what you question, what you refuse, and what you can imagine.

Born from collective practice in Southeast Asia, this framework provides practical tools and methods for decolonial work: from facilitating meetings and conducting research, to building collective accountability and navigating institutional power. It acknowledges its own limitations and invites continuous revision.

#### 01 Grounded in Place

Rooted in Southeast Asian mind, praxis traditions, not as pure origins but as living practices with specific political insights.

Methods are adaptable frameworks, not rigid protocols. Communities choose, adapt, and combine practices based on their specific contexts and needs, the framework distributes authority rather than centralizing it.

Focuses on changing structures, not purifying individuals. Power is structural; accountability must be too. Individual good intentions without structural change reproduce harm.

### Two Interconnected Systems

ProyekDekolonial operates through two main frameworks that work together: tools for decolonizing consciousness, and practical methods for everyday work.

#### Four Tools for Decolonizing Mind

These are not steps in a sequence, they are lenses that, once turned on, change what you see. They belong together, each making the others deeper.

**Paradox** — Learning to hold contradictions without forcing resolution, recognizing that colonial thinking demands binary choices where pluriversal thinking holds multiple truths

**Moral Suspicion** — Asking whose interests are served by any moral claim, understanding morality as political rather than universal

**Pluriverse** — Recognizing that multiple worlds exist simultaneously, each with its own valid knowledge systems and ways of being

**Contextual Actor Theology** — Acting from specific relationships and contexts rather than abstract principles, replacing universal accountability with local, relational accountability

#### 15 Practice Methods (Re-Grounded)

Organized into four orientations, these methods provide concrete practices for facilitation, research, memory work, and structural change.

**Foundations** — Power analysis, positionality mapping, collective agreement-building

**Together** — Facilitation rooted in musyawarah, decision-making that honors dissent, navigating institutional capture

**Memory & Knowledge** — Oral history, genealogies of concepts, recovering suppressed knowledge

**Rupture & Re-imagining** — Direct action, refusal practices, building alternative vocabulary and institutions

### What ProyekDekolonial Refuses

Decolonial work requires clarity about what is rejected, not only what is affirmed. These refusals are political commitments, not academic positions.

#### We refuse the god's-eye-view

All knowledge is positioned. There is no view from nowhere. ProyekDekolonial rejects universalist frameworks that claim to speak for everyone while actually speaking from specific positions of power.

#### We refuse individual purity politics

The goal is not to become a "good person" free of complicity. The goal is structural change. Personal moral perfection is a colonial distraction from collective accountability.

Knowledge belongs to the communities that hold it. Research that takes knowledge without giving back, that builds academic careers on community stories without community benefit, is colonialism in method form.
